Building bridges between assessment and evaluation

Our SIG was established as a platform for dialogue between scholars with a focus on classroom assessment and scholars with an orientation toward large-scale assessment and program evaluation. Our theme for the 2016 conference is a reorientation to this core dialogue as it is central to issues faced by assessment in school contexts as well as by assessment in professional contexts. Doing so, we intend to build bridges between these two areas of research and practice and that through these bridges we can explore new perspectives and approaches to assessment and evaluation. Therefore we specifically invite proposals on the following topics:

  • Large scale assessment
  • Classroom assessment
  • Program evaluation
  • Teachers’ assessment literacy and professional development
  • Assessment and evaluation connections to learning, self-regulated learning, motivation and emotion
  • Students' assessment literacy and involvement
  • Technology-supported assessment & learning analytics
